Team Selection Procedure

We will hold the 2 primary tryouts. One in August 2011 and one at some point in the fall. From these tryouts you will be placed on temporary teams. The first three weeks of the season will be an "evaluation period" where players may be switched onto different teams based on skill level and team cohesion. Finalized teams will start practice together on December 5th. The in-house league will also begin this week with the finalized teams.

Selectors will include a combination of Klub coaches, coaches/players from outside of the Klub, and the coaching director. This will guarantee a neutral evaluation. Although we are setting aside three weeks designed for "tweaking the teams" we do not anticipate major changes as we feel confident that the selectors will be able to combine the players to form excellent teams right from the get-go.

KaPow Attendance Policy

Your success, and the Klub’s, depends upon attending all of the practice sessions and events. Joining the KaPow Hockey Klub means that you are serious about reaching your full potential, on and off the hockey court. We understand that emergencies arise from time to time, but absences should be held to an absolute minimum.

Each KaPow player is permitted a maximum of two (2) absences during the season. If you are unable to attend a scheduled function, it is your responsibility to notify your coach immediately with reason for absence. Additional absences will result in reduced playing time in competitive events and will be at the discretion of your coach. If your absence is an extraordinary situation, you may petition your coach or the KaPow Director for special consideration.

KaPow Tournament Philosophy

We love to win. But we also believe in teamwork and fair play. We believe that every KaPow member deserves her fair share of playing time at league night and our 2 competitive tournaments. To us, it's important that when we win, we win as a team. A team member's playing time will only be reduced as a result of breaking the Attendance Policy, lack of effort, or other disciplinary matters as determined by the coach.

For the highly competitive tournaments, Qualifiers & NITs, playing time must be determined by the coach based on what the current situation demands. All players will not be guaranteed equal playing time at these tournaments. One of our major goals is to ensure that ALL players on a team will be at the same level but until that occurs this standard will be in place.
